For this tour, however, I wore lightweight trekking shoes, as the terrain does not require heavy alpine mountain boots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At a very brisk pace, the ascent took me approximately one hour. The descent along the same route took around 45 to 50 minutes, bringing my total walking time to about 1 hour 45 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes. I then continued uphill for some time at a relatively gentle pace along the broad trail no. 681. Along the way, the route passes the \u201cBio-Institut am Moarhof\u201d and the Protestant ruins of Neuhaus Church, which are also well worth seeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns prominent junction, turn sharply right towards the Grimmingh\u00fctte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The route to the hut largely follows an easy T1 hiking trail, with only a few short Grimmingh\u00fctte, I once again followed the signs towards Tressenstein and turned slightly right in a north-easterly direction onto trail no. 685.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Caution: Do not continue along trail no. 681, as it leads to the ascent routes up Grimming via the south-east ridge or Multereck.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img then continues steadily uphill through the forest, becoming slightly steeper towards the summit while remaining mostly at T2 level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the final section, turn sharply right again and cross a forest road, after which the trail heads due east.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In my personal assessment, the final one or two sections shortly before the summit could be rated T2+ or briefly even T3. However, under normal conditions, they should not present any major difficulty for reasonably experienced and sure-footed hikers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignfull size-large\"><img M\u00f6lbegg &amp; Hochstein<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"abstieg\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Descent and Return to Trautenfels Castle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I descended along the same marked trail that I had previously followed on the ascent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"sonnenexposition\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sun Exposure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From Trautenfels Castle to shortly beyond the ruins of Neuhaus Church, or until the trail enters the forest, the route is largely unprotected and therefore strongly exposed to the sun in clear weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Further along in the forest, the dense tree cover provides considerable protection from direct sunlight. Shortly before the Grimmingh\u00fctte, the route crosses another more open section of forest road where you are briefly more exposed to the sun again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the Grimmingh\u00fctte, the trail turns north and ascends across the southern flank of Tressenstein. It then heads north-east before traversing east towards the summit in the final section. Although this part of the tour is largely south-facing, the dense tree cover provides shade for most of the way.
